Learn a new skill in two hours!

Put your play idea to paper! | @ $40

Sat, Mar 25 from 2 – 4pm | 18 yrs and up

Take that idea that has been rolling around in your head and find out how to put it down onto paper and turn it into your own original play!  This class is designed for the beginner or anyone who is looking for a brush-up on playwriting techniques and exercises to help get them started on that new play.  This class is for 18 and up.

Puppet Design!

This exciting art-based class is geared for young adults with neurodiversity.  In this class students will be desiging puppets for the school tour of the play, “Stellaluna.”  They will be walked through the steps of what it takes to be a designer of a show.  Participants will learn about character breakdowns, design boards, and then actually build and create the puppets for the production.

It’s time to raise your voice! This series is for our Senior vocalists, professional and recreational, who are looking to explore new music and dust off the old tunes. We will explore a variety of vocal stylings, from Gershwin to Elton John, and increase vocal flexibility and strength through warm ups and exercises. Each week will bring a new opportunity to sing, sing a song, sing it loud, sing it strong!

Writing the 10 minute Play

This interactive playwriting course will guide new and more experienced writers through the process of building a 10 minute play through lecture, discussion, feedback, and written exercises.

Monday Night Live!

In this class students with neurodiversity will explore themes (anime, musicals, etc) through sketch comedy to acquire more acting techniques based on material that interests the individual students. Of course, we end with our own comedy sketch show… Monday Night Live!

Create Your Own Clown Show

In the six-week course called students will learn the basics of clowning performance, character development, and routine creation. With the guidance of 2 expert physical theatre and clown class instructors, students will explore the history and art of clowning, develop their own unique characters, brainstorm comedic ideas for bits, and create a cohesive and entertaining clown routine.

Cabaret Workshop and Showcase

This class is for intermediate to advanced musical theatre singers who want to create their own cabaret show.  We’ll discuss the nuts and bolts of how to put your one-person show together, including the 4 pillars of your set list, the 4 key emotional moments to include, and how to mine your own history for stories to share in your banter.  You’ll brainstorm specific songs that you might include in your one-person show, and bring in songs each week to coach on the music interpretation and storytelling.  This class will culminate in performance on the NVA cabaret stage where each participant will perform 2 songs with their own original banter!

Keeping it Reel: On-Camera Acting Class

This six week on camera class is for actor of all levels to be your unique authentic self while the camera is rolling.  We will focus on cold reading, auditioning and scene work. Keeping It Reel is a no acting acting class.
