Jeannette Rankin Fights Back

"An amazing window into the life of a woman we should know more about." - Dale Gorratt

Join us for an evening learning about Jeanette Rankin, the first woman elected to US Congress in 1916. This interactive experience will broaden minds while inspiring women and voters of all identities!

Join us Monday, March 18th for an interactive presentation of Beth Rankin Urech’s play Jeannette Rankin Fights Back, a short one-woman play about the first woman elected to US Congress. After the performance, Beth will speak with patrons about the importance of women’s involvement in politics.

Jeannette Rankin of Montana voted against entry into both World Wars and was proud to be the only woman to vote for women’s right to vote. When asked if she’d do it all over again, she said, “Yes, and next time I’d be nastier.”

A feisty feminist and pacifist, Jeannette Rankin is portrayed with vigor and eloquence by Beth Rankin Urech who just happens to be her cousin.

About Beth Rankin Urech:

Beth lived in Switzerland for three decades where she established Speak for Yourself, Inc. to help her international clients speak with confidence and conviction.

After returning to Chicago, she premiered her first solo show ActYourAge! in 2013 which she has performed over thirty times  throughout the USA, Switzerland and Ireland.

Beth recently moved here from Northern New Mexico and is delighted to introduce Jeannette to Carlsbad by the Sea.
