Level 4 is where it all comes together. You’ll take the skills you’ve built—truthful play, smart choices, strong support—and use them to create longform improv that’s connected, dynamic, and unforgettable.
You’ll master The Harold, learning how to find the game in every scene, heighten it, and connect your scenes into one seamless piece. With focused feedback and advanced coaching, you’ll leave this class ready to command the stage and make every moment count.
In this class, you will:
- Perform full Harolds both in class and in a showcase.
- Strengthen your ability to spot and heighten the game in any scene.
- Practice seamless scene connections for a cohesive performance.
- Develop confidence in building longer, more complex pieces.
- Apply “learn the rules, play the rules, break the rules” in real time.
- Receive individualized coaching to fine-tune your unique style.

Through teaching and performance, Patrick McInnis has shared his love of improv with students and audiences across the US. His team The Third Thought has performed regularly in national festivals, and he has built vibrant improv communities in Boulder, Colorado, Tampa/St. Petersburg and now here in Carlsbad. Learners from elementary schools through assisted living facilities have played and learned with Patrick.
