Administrative Internships

Hands-on experience in professional theatre administration!

The NVA Administrative Internship offers immersive, hands-on experience in either Marketing or Production. Interns will work closely with the New Village Arts team to support a wide range of administrative and creative initiatives.

This internship is designed to help participants build practical skills, make industry connections, and contribute meaningfully to NVA’s season programming.

New Village Arts is committed to cultivating the next generation of theatre professionals. Interns will gain:

Available Opportunities

Marketing Intern

  • Ideal for individuals who are passionate about storytelling, community engagement, and the role of marketing in bringing live theater to wider audiences.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist the Marketing Team in the planning and execution of campaigns for mainstage productions like RENT and The Apiary, and special events
    • Support content creation for social media, email newsletters, and print materials
    • Help manage event listings, and community calendars
    • Provide on-site support for promotional events and community outreach initiatives
  • Ideal Candidate:
    • Creative, detail-oriented, and a strong writer
    • Interested in arts marketing, social media, or communications
    • Comfortable juggling multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Passionate about live theater and excited to connect with diverse audiences
  • This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in arts marketing while helping amplify the mission and programs of a professional theater company.
  • College credit available where applicable (Ideally season long, can also be quarterly or semester long).

Production Intern

  • Ideal for individuals passionate about theater who are interested in the behind-the-scenes work that brings a show to life.
  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Assist the Artistic Producer in coordinating and organizing production needs across multiple shows
    • Support rehearsal logistics, including scheduling, communication, and materials prep
    • Help maintain production calendars, track deadlines, and manage production documents
    • Provide on-site support during technical rehearsals, previews, and performances as needed
    • Serve as a liaison between artistic, technical, and administrative teams
  • Ideal Candidate:
    • Organized, reliable, and a strong communicator
    • Interested in production management, stage management, or arts administration
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
    • Passionate about live theater and eager to learn from professionals in the field
  • This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience while contributing meaningfully to the creative process of professional theater.
  • College credit available where applicable (Ideally season long, can also be quarterly or semester long).

ACADEMIC CREDIT

To receive academic credit, it is the appliciant’s responsibility to coordinate this with their institution. NVA is happy to complete any necessary paperwork required by the appliciant’s institution.
This is an unpaid educational opportunity designed to offer hands-on experience in exchange for college credit.
