Performed in Honor of Dea Hurston and In Celebration of James Baldwin's 100th birthday!

Join us as we honor the beloved Dea Hurston with a staged reading of Bil Wrights play "It Really is James Baldwin" and directed by Rhys Green.

The time is now—2024! The ghost of James Baldwin shows up at 1800’s Underground Railroad Conductor Harriet Tubman’s door. Baldwin begs Tubman to help him get to Harlem, NYC so he can write a new book, maybe even his greatest.

IT REALLY IS JAMES BALDWIN! is a love letter to James Baldwin on his 100th birthday for his courage, wisdom, and humor.

“It made me laugh, and it made me think, and then laugh again.”
