Gary Banks
Instructor of Piano at Carlsbad Village Music
Gary Banks is a pianist and teacher recently from Pennsylvania. He has been sharing his passion and gift for music in a variety of settings for over thirty years of performance and musical productions. As a career professional in Human Resources and Higher Education for thirty-five years, Gary also pursued music as an avocation. His expansive experience includes directing choirs, teaching music, and playing in ensembles and solo engagements. He has embraced the discipline and life of a professional musician since 2005. Although taught in the traditional method that included theory and classical foundations, Gary leans toward jazz standards, blues, and popular tunes. His style is best described as a hybrid of blues, jazz, and gospel, owing to his time spent as a church musician. Since moving to Carlsbad, Gary has been active playing for special events, private engagements, and as an occasional member of music ensembles in Southern California. Gary brings his passion for the love and discipline of music to Carlsbad Village Music with an easy demeanor that creates a fun environment learning.
