Kids Act

New Village Arts is pleased to continue its collaboration with Kids Act, a local youth acting program that has been teaching fun and exciting children’s theatre for over 12 years! Kids Act classes are more than fun, they help develop your child’s self-confidence and creativity. Each child is encouraged to step forward and shine in an atmosphere of respect and trust, provided by experienced, professional teachers.
“Our goal in Kids Act is to encourage our students to manifest their talents and abilities through the joy of creative expression.”

KIDS ACT - GOING ON STAGE! (10-week sessions)

Unfortunately, our spring session is currently postponed until further notice. If you would like to be put on a mailing list to receive news about when our Kids Act sessions will begin, please send an e-mail to Aleta Barthell: and say “Add me to the Kids Act mailing list!”
Until we meet again, I hope that you learn about new characters through books, movies and plays, so that we are ready to PLAY at New Village Arts Theatre when the time comes!
All my best,

Put your child’s imagination into action in Kids Act, where they create their own characters and plays. In the end, at a professional theatre, students will perform their original plays, along with a short piece of Shakespearean verse, in front of scenery that they’ve created for family and friends. (Taught by Aleta Barthell)

Online registration is now closed for Fall classes. For late enrollment, contact Aleta Barthell.

Stories in Performance!

Students will be involved in developing a script from a classic story, painting their own scenery, and performing for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Write your own play!  In this 5-day camp, participants will be guided through the process of taking an idea and turning it into a finished play that will be performed by professional actors on the last day of camp. Playwrights Project has been teaching playwriting in San Diego county for over 30 years.  (Taught by Aleta Barthell)

No upcoming Playwrights Project Camps at the moment. Check back soon for more details.

Monday Night Live!

In Monday Night Live! students will explore themes (anime, musicals, etc) through different acting forms (stand-up, scene work, show hosting, movement, music, etc) to acquire more acting techniques based on material that interests the individual students. Of course, we end with our own comedy sketch show... Monday Night Live!

To be put on the mailing list for the future classes, email Aleta Barthell

Improv Camps!

Improv your life and learn the art of improvisational acting. Students will learn core techniques that will help them make strong character choices, improve listening skills on stage and gain confidence while performing in front of an audience.

This class is perfect for all acting skill levels, from the beginner to the working performer who wants to keep their improvisational skills sharp for auditions!

More classes coming soon!
