ARTIST BIO

Phyllis Swanson is a native Californian. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1978, Phyllis pursued her interest in art studying various techniques including scientific illustration, watercolor, oils and Chinese brush painting. Phyllis has found her niche through the use of acrylics.

Phyllis has spent the past 16 years working as a muralist with Studio 2 in Carlsbad. She has participated in many of the Studios' performance art pieces which included six years as featured artists for Carlsbad's Artsplash. Phyllis enjoys toying with the juxtaposition of the expected and not so expected to find humor in our everyday experience. And, if you can't find her in the studio then she's probably on her bike.
