Kristianne Kurner, Executive Artistic Director kristianne@newvillagearts.org

Kristianne founded New Village Arts in 2001. Trained as an actor and director, she has worked on every mainstage production at NVA, with her favorite acting role being John Wesley Powell in Men on Boats. Directing credits include: American Hero, Awake & Sing!, The Weir, The Nutcracker, Wait Until Dark, The Trip to Bountiful, Much Ado About Nothing, Summer and Smoke, True West, Sailor’s Song, The Waverly Gallery and A Lie of the Mind. Her work has received numerous awards, including San Diego Theatre Critics Circle and Patté Awards for Theatre Excellence. She is the recent recipient of the Clare Rose Sabbatical Award from Fieldstone Leadership Network. Education: BFA Theatre, The College of William & Mary; MFA Acting, the Actors Studio/New School. Alex Goodman, Managing Director alexgoodman@newvillagearts.org

Alex has worked with several large and small theatre companies in Chicago, Detroit and San Diego including Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf, The Hilberry, La Jolla Playhouse, and Strawdog Theatre Company. He is the co-founder of MOB Productions, a Chicago-based theatre company dedicated to the shared experience of popular culture. He currently serves on the boards of North County Philanthropy Council and North County Arts Network. He is a current participant in CSUSM's Leadership North County, and is a graduate of the American Express Leadership Academy through the Center for Creative Leadership.  Education: BA Theatre, Western Michigan University; MFA Theatre Management, Wayne State University.
 

Rosalee Barrientos, Director of Operations | ross@newvillagearts.org

Ross has worked in numerous theatres around San Diego. From 2007 to 2012, she served as Production Manager for Cygnet Theatre and assisted in producing 35 shows. Stage Management: Stage KissBig River, The Secret Garden (NVA); miXtape (Lambs Players); Fuddy MeersMoon Over Buffalo, The Rivals, The Diary of Anne Frank, Arcadia (North Coast Repertory Theatre); The Glass Menagerie, Our Town, Sweeney Todd, Noises Off, A Christmas Carol, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, (Cygnet); A Dream PlayMacbeth, Nu, [sic] (Sledgehammer Theatre). Education: BA in Theatre Arts, San Diego State University.  

 


AJ Knox, Director of Connectivity aj@newvillagearts.org
 
AJ is an actor, director, illustrator, stand-up comedian, clown, and writer. NVA credits include Avenue Q (Director), and Romeo & Juliet (Director), and The 1940s Radio Hour (Actor). Other Directing Credits include: Fuddy Meers, One Slight Hitch, Psycho Beach Party, Mr. Marmalade, The Alchemist, Endgame, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and The Laramie Project. He also serves as the Artistic Director for Carlsbad Playreaders and teaches theatre and film throughout San Diego. He is the recipient of the Kalman A. Burnim Prize for Scholarly Excellence in Drama, as well as several awards for teaching and directing. Education: PhD in Drama, Tufts University; MA in Theatre Education, Emerson College; BA in Theatre Arts, Loyola Marymount University. Upcoming at NVA: The Servant of Two Masters (Playwright, Director).
 

Nadia Guevara, Associate Artistic Director nadia@newvillagearts.org

Nadia is an actor, director, and teaching artist. Recent NVA contributions include performing in Cloud Tectonics and The Secret Garden, choreography for Buddy - The Buddy Holly StoryAmerican Hero, and The Secret Garden, directing Cinderella Eats Rice and Beans, teaching and choreographing for various education programs, and coordinating partnerships with local high schools. With support from Wells Fargo and others, Nadia has produced NVA’s community outreach initiative, Teatro Pueblo Nuevo, a program designed to highlight North County’s bilingual and bicultural communities through outreach events and productions. Upcoming at NVA: Miss Bennet (Actor) and Bella: An American Tall Tale (Director).

Mary Jo is a Oceanside, California native. She spent 15 years working for such illustrious local companies as Jazzercise and Callaway Golf in various administrative capacities, but left the full-time working industry to pursue her true life’s passion, being a mother! After raising three amazing children, she went back to the working world and has been House Manager for several years in many local theaters including Mira Costa College and Oceanside Theater Company. She is a familiar face at NVA as the House Manager, Bartender and working the Box Office. She is thrilled to be working in her second season for New Village Arts and is proud to be working for a theater that promotes not only theater, but artists, as well as diversity in the community.
